Tell us about your business: When small business owners first start out online they all have the same goal – to be number one in the search engines. I work with them so that they understand internet marketing techniques and search engine optimization. Although I do the work for them I also take the time to educate them on how the process works. I also explain to them that their goal should be just to be number one in the search engines, but to be numbers 1, 2, 4, 6, and 10! A business can hold multiple spots on the first page of a search and, while no results can ever be guaranteed, I can help get them there!
What inspired you to start your business: When I first launched my own website, I had no idea what I was doing. I literally put it up and hoped for the best. When that didn’t work out well I started doing research online and joined a forum that was very helpful. That forum led me to other sites with more information. Suddenly I was overwhelmed with information and loving it! I put up a test website to try to put together everything I’d learned and it immediately started to rank in the search engines! It was amazing. My next website was ranked number 1 in Yahoo within 2 weeks! But what struck me was that I was far more interested in learning how to promote my website than I was in designing the site or even selling products. Knowing that other small business owners would be in the same situation I was in, and that they might not be interested in learning search engine optimization I decided to start a business doing what I do best.
Share one business goal you have: My biggest goal is to network with other small business owners and help them understand that it takes more than luck and hard work to succeed online. I share what I know freely, after all, I learned most of what I know from the internet. Most people do not have the time, or the interest, to follow the process and that is where I can help.
What would you say contributes to your success: I believe that in order to be successful you need to dedicate at least 1 to 2 hours a day – EVERY day – to building your business. I do something to move my business forward every single day. I work hard, and it shows.
