What inspired you to start your business?
I was looking for a fun way to use my graphics background to help people with events and parties. I have a young daughter that loves arts and crafts and we did a few projects together before deciding that this could be a regular business/service that we offer to people. No one would have the same designs as us since each artist is unique
in their designs.

What has been the biggest challenge in your business and how have you dealt with it?
The biggest challenge is getting orders right now. I’m still fairly new and haven’t made a name for myself in the area yet. Getting the word out about your company takes a lot of time, patience and work. The time management is a big challenge too. Being a single mom, working a full time day job and trying to run a business from home has its challenges but working one day at a time and one project at a time makes a big difference.

What would you say has contributed to your business success?
A lot of my sales have come from friends and family right now. They are sharing their purchases with others and by word of mouth business is slowly growing.

What advice would you like to offer to other women/moms who are thinking about starting a business?
Start slow! Take lots of notes and stay focused! I tried to start my business 2 years ago and kept trying to do to much at once. I wanted things to be bigger and better and had great ideas that just kept coming. I was overwhelming myself with to much to do and think about. Once I focused on ONE product to start with I seemed to get a little farther. I had to perfect one item at a time instead of trying to jump in head first thinking that more was better. The best advice I can give is write down all those ideas that flood your mind in the beginning. Pick one or two things to start with and put all your attention towards. Then slowly go back to your list and pick another idea to start slowly integrating to your business.

What is your favorite tool/resources you use for your business and why?
My favorite resources are other WAHMs and sites like MomPack. Its great to find groups that you can network with and help each other promote products and services. We are all trying to accomplish the same thing and can give each other great advice, tips and leads.

Share one business goal you have for your business:
My long term goal for my business is to be able to open a small store front location with multiple products and gifts that can all be personalized. My short term goals are to slowly perfect one product at a time and add it to my product line. I also have a goal of updating my website with a better design and layout with a shopping cart for online shopping.
