I have launched an online business, MomtoMomHealth.com to share what I have learned with others, understanding product labels and offering healthy safe personal care/cosmetics. My web site can is helpful in making simple changes to your everyday living that will in turn lead you and your family to live healthy, safe, and long lives.
What inspired you to start your business?
My personal diagnosis with breast cancer in 2007 with no family history intrigued me to educate myself on environmental issues which surround us daily.
What has been the biggest challenge in your business and how have you dealt with it?
My biggest challenge has been to keep up with social media and being able to use the tools to promote momtomomhealth. I am trying to set personal goals to reach customers through various outlets, ie: monthly newsletters, facebook, etc
What would you say has contributed to your business success?
My biggest success has been my friends and family! They have been behind me and believe in my mission to educate on toxic chemicals in our personal everyday products and have chosen to make a difference in
What advice would you like to offer to other women/moms who are thinking about starting a business?
If you are looking to start a business, I would say to go with your dream and passion. Initially it’s a lot of hard work but to see it after it’s taken off it’s a huge personal accomplishment.
What is your favorite tool/resources you use for your business and why?
My favorite resource in my business has been the cosmetic database which assists me in researching product and ingredients in our daily products as it rates on a hazard scale. It’s an excellent guide developed by the Environmental Working Group: http://www.cosmeticdatabase.com
Share one business goal you have for your business:
As a stay at home mom I get very distracted and off track easily. My goal for 2011 is to “become a voice”, I would like to educate on making safer choices when choosing personal care/cosmetics through seminars, meetings,web, etc where I can help others understand the dangers of some ingredients we lather on our skin everyday.
